Cleaning Tips

  • Salvage a burned pot: Scrape out as much food as you can and then fill the pan a quarter full of water. Pour in a half cup of baking soda and bring the water to a boil. Turn it off and let it sit overnight. In the morning, you can clean off the black stuff with ease.
  • Make your microwave sparkle: Got a lot of gunk baked onto the walls of your microwave? Put one cup water and a few tablespoons of baking soda into a glass container. Microwave on high for three minutes. Use a damp sponge to wipe off all the loosened grime.
  • Kitchen or Bathroom Sinks: Pour a cup of baking soda down your drain, the follow with 2 cups of vinegar. Let sit for at least 30 minutes, then rinse with boiling water. Do this at lease once a week to keep everything smelling fresh. Note: Gallon of vinegar and baking soda is good to have on hand.
  • Litter Box: Just spread some baking Soda on the bottom of the pan when you replace the litter, and sprinkle some on top every time you scoop. The nasty smell gets absorbed into the baking soda.

  • Stainless Steel Pots: Wet a sponge and add a small amount of cream of tartar before you wipe down your stainless steel. Rinse to reveal the shine.
  • Natural Cleaning Scrub Recipe: 1/2 Lemon; 1/2 cup borax powder; plastic bowl. Rust stains on porcelain or enamel sinks and tubs are no match for this cleaner. Dip the lemon into the borax and scrub the surface, then rinse. Note: This is not safe for marble or granite.
